*--The Story Behind the Print--*
The woodblock print 'Resilience' is about strength, transformation, and of course, resilience. With the cicada, moon, and the magnolia as symbols that resonate with how I see these characteristics in myself, my communities, and in the natural world around us.
The transformation and resilience of a cicada, the very strong, beautiful, and adaptive magnolia tree. The moon as a way to speak of full cycles as it returns whole in the sky while the cicada's become inactive as the moon comes out. While the moon comes full circle everyday, the cicada's go through their transformations, then their offspring burrow and hibernate with assurance they shall come back out another year and make their presence well-known by daylight once again. The magnolia trees are a known symbol of perseverance as they are known to be some of the oldest flowering plants.
